1 Journal Content
1.1 Aims
The journal “Communications in Development and Assembling of Textile Products” (CDATP), ISSN 2701-939X, is an international peer reviewed, Diamond Open Access journal.
It has the mission to offer a forum for scientific exchange in the interdisciplinary area of the engineering development of textile based products and the technology of their assembling. Textile based products include clothes, footwear, leather products and any other products made by fiber based or flexible materials, or made by the method of textile production.
1.2 Scope
Topic of interests are new, not published research results and content related to:
- development of products of textiles, leather and other flexible materials.
- textile materials, their production and parameter identification
- 2D and 3D pattern design
- optimisation and body shape fitting
- 3D/4D scanning, data processing
- cutting and investigations on preparatory processes
- assembling technologies – sewing, welding, gluing, thermoforming, folding, packing
- textile logistics
- recycling of textile products
- numerical modelling of all these processes
- interaction between clothing and human body with all its aspect related to mechanical, thermal, moisture, processes and human body comfort
- footwear, their production and interaction between the product and the body
- biomechanics related to textile product development
- other related topics.
1.3 The target readership of the journal
The journal is intended for researchers, academics, engineers, and industry professionals working in textile engineering, apparel development, garment assembly, smart textiles, and related manufacturing technologies.
It also serves graduate students, innovation practitioners, and decision-makers interested in advances in textile product design, production processes, automation, digitalization, and sustainable textile technologies.
1.4 Open Access Policy
Communications in Development and Assembling of Textile (CDATP) is a Diamond open access journal. It publishes quality-checked articles under an open access-compliant licence. Authors agree to grant the publisher a non-exclusive right to publish, while retaining copyright and all other rights to their work. No publication fees are charged and all content can be accessed immediately after publication free of charge. The journal and the title rights belong to the scientific community. The community also controls the journal's financial flows and accounts, as well as all decisions regarding editorial content and workflows. It operates transparently at all levels. CDATP serves scientific communication and is therefore non-profit.
1.5 Copyright & Licensing
CDATP’s copyright and licensing policy is designed to promote the dissemination of knowledge and to allow authors to retain control over their work while still publishing it in the journal.
Papers, published until 31.12.2023 are available under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. All articles published since 01.01.2024 are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).
CC BY: Authors retain copyright and all content can be reused unrestrictedly according to the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0. Preprints (pre-review manuscripts), post prints (authors accepted manuscripts, AAM), and the version of record (VoR) can be deposited without restrictions.
- BY: credit must be given to the creator.
CDATP does not have an embargo period, which means that articles are available online immediately after publication.
Authors can self-archive their articles and deposit their articles in repositories, such as arXiv, PubMed Central, or institutional repositories, as long as they comply with the journal's self-archiving policy.
The self-archiving policy of CDAPT is as follows:
- Preprints (versions before peer review): Authors can deposit preprints at any time.
- Author Accepted Manuscripts (AAMs): Authors can deposit AAMs after acceptance.
- Author's final version / Version of Record (VoRs): Authors can deposit the final version of the article after publication in repositories of their choice (e.g. an institutional, disciplinary and general-purpose repository, etc.), as long as it is the version that was accepted for publication.
- No embargo: There is no embargo period, which means that authors can deposit their articles in repositories immediately after publication.
- Bibliographic information: Full bibliographic information (authors, article title, journal title, volume, issue, pages) about the original publication must be provided and links must be made to the article's DOI and the license.
- CC-BY license: Authors must ensure that the deposited article is licensed under a CC BY license, which allows others to share, use, and build upon the work as long as they give proper credit to the original authors.
Only original contributions, images and results whose intellectual property belongs to the authors can be published in the journal.
1.6 Publishing schedule and publication form
The publishing schedule of CDATP is designed to provide fast and efficient publication of high-quality research. CDATP is a continuous publication journal, which means that it does not have a traditional publishing schedule with specific issues or volumes. Instead, articles are published online as soon as they are accepted and edited.
CDATP does not have an embargo period, which means that articles are available online immediately after publication.
The journal is only available online. There are no printed issues. All published papers are available in PDF format.
1.7 Long term preservation
All articles and PDFs are long-term identifiable by DOIs. CDATP is also archived by the German National Library (http://d-nb.info/1218553049) and PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), including all full-text PDFs.

In addition, it is planned that after conversion of the files into the required PDF/A standard format, functional long-term preservation takes place in SLUBarchiv.digital. This local long-term archive is constantly being further developed and enables OA publications to be backed up independently of external service providers.

2.2 Journal Governance
The journal is led by the Editor-in-Chief, supported by the Co-Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board. Together, these bodies are responsible for setting strategic directions and ensuring the effective implementation of the journal’s mission.
The journal is further supported by the Editorial Office, which ensures the efficient operation of all editorial processes.

The Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor-in-Chief oversee the entire editorial process, ensuring that all activities align with the journal’s standards, scope, and objectives.
(ii) Editorial Board
The Editorial Board establishes editorial policies, provides strategic guidance, and ensures adherence to ethical and professional standards.
(iii) Editorial Office
The Editorial Office manages the day-to-day operations of the journal. Its members prepare manuscripts for publication, revise the journal’s basic style rules and templates, coordinate correspondence with authors and editors of special issues, and oversee the technical and administrative aspects of the publication process.

3 Business Practices
3.1 Author fees
CDATP does not charge fees from its authors.
3.2 Revenue and advertising
3.2.1 Statement on Sponsoring
CDATP and its website refrain from commercial advertising. CDATP is a Diamond Open Access journal, it does not charge publication or reading fees. The costs for DOI, web hosting and plagiarism checks are covered by SLUB Dresden. The work of all editors and the production team is voluntary.
3.2.2 Direct marketing
CDATP does not implement direct marketing.
4 History
4.1 History of the journal
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Yordan Kyosev has taken the Chair of Assembly Technology for Textile Products at ITM, TU Dresden in 2019 (renamed to "Chair of Development and Assembly of textile Products" in 2021). At this time the most high-impact level journals were concentrated on materials, polymers, informatics or other specific content, but did not cover the interaction between these sciences, required in the development and assembling of textile products. From other side, the increased article processing charges and the very limited number of open access textile journals, listed in DOAJ limit additionally the publication possibilities for the scientific results in this area. In order to fill this gap, with the intensive technical support of SLUB the starting of CDATP Journal was prepared in 2019 and the journal was able to start very successfully in year 2020 with two issues independent of the COVID situation, which has changed significantly our scientific life. Prof. Dr. Dr. hab. Andrea Ehrmann (FH Bielefeld, University of Applied Sciences) joined the journal team as Co-Editor-in-Chief short after the journal launch and manages the topics related to the natural sciences (physics, nanoparticles, smart particles) and the quality insurance of the production.
